Independent academic studies found that the Apex did not negatively impact walking balance, nor did it increase the risk of falling due to slip or trip perturbations.
A peer-reviewed study by Virginia Tech found that wearing the Apex did not increase fall risk after inducing a slip or trip perturbation, as compared to not wearing an exosuit (Dooley 2023). These findings were corroborated when the Apex was in both assistance and non-assistance modes. Another third-party study by Arizona State University found that the Apex had no adverse effects on walking stability or balance, regardless of whether the exosuit was in assistance or non-assistance mode (Yu 2022).
